Field Trips!

Field Trips to our facility are ideal for children ranging from daycares to about 5th Grade.

We don’t have an age cutoff though, so all ages and abilities are encouraged to come play! (Our equipment will hold adult sizes.)

Mendo LEAP is a Social Development Center where kids and families of all abilities can Learn, Explore and Adapt through Play, together. Our mission is to spread inclusion and understanding by teaching that everyone’s brain works in unique ways—sometimes called neurodiversity—and that those differences make our community stronger. We do all of this through the power of play, making learning and connection fun for everyone.

  • Our space was designed specifically to not just accommodate, but to serve and enrich all children & adults who are neurodivergent. Our equipment is professional, commercial grade, and designed to safely hold larger adult sizes.

We love brainstorming how we can be inclusive of your specific students needs, so don’t hesitate to reach out.

We highly recommend teachers/staff set up a personal tour of our facility ahead of time so we can help you to make the most out of your visit!

  • If you have 8 or less kiddos in your group: at that age and size of group it is still comfortable in the facility to come visit while we are still open to the public. In that case, we consider it a ‘play-date’ and allow you to pay per child at the time of visit. We do ask that you let us know you are coming so we can prepare a ‘welcome’ for you! :)

We highly recommend teachers/staff set up a personal tour of our facility so we can help you to make the most out of your visit!

  • Non-structured play is idea for this age given the nature of our equipment. This age is learning and developing a wide variety of skills through the use of our equipment without even knowing it! More structured field trips at this age generally aren’t needed but absolutely doable!

We will also connect you with our Art Director to set up an arts and crafts project that aligns with your students’ age and developmental stage.

We highly recommend teachers/staff set up a personal tour of our facility so we can help you to make the most out of your visit!

  • Kinder-1st Grade is a great age for unstructured open play. They are also the perfect age to introduce more time-intensive Maker Space projects into the visit. In collaboration with the teacher/staff we have students move through the facility in rotating small groups, or we can set up to have the whole class participate at one time in a guided art project.

We highly recommend teachers/staff set up a personal tour of our facility so we can help you to make the most out of your visit!

  • 2nd-5th Grade is a great age to do rotating educational play stations, guided Maker Space Projects and Learning Unit prep ahead of the visit on one or all of our 4 Mendocino County specific play exhibits.

We highly recommend teachers/staff set up a personal tour of our facility so we can help you to make the most out of your visit!

  • Our facility is the perfect place bring your older ages class to reinforce learning objectives. Cause and effect, experimentation, reflection, exploration, encouragement, research. Our unique equipment can be used for a wide variety of purposes and is absolutely beneficial to the older development students.

We highly recommend teachers/staff set up a personal tour of our facility so we can help you to make the most out of your visit!

  • Our facility is the perfect research facility for college classes to come explore and evaluate.

We can set up for you to come while children are present so you can observe children play and the impact the specific equipment has for them or you can arrange to come in a private setting so as to explore the equipment and analyse the facility without the public.

We highly recommend teachers/staff set up a personal tour of our facility so we can help you to make the most out of your visit!

To ensure proper staffing, materials, and accommodations are in place, all field trip bookings require an estimated headcount in advance. This estimate will be used to calculate the total cost of the field trip.

Please note the following policy regarding attendance and payment:

  • The original estimated number of participants will serve as the basis for invoicing.

  • Payment is required in full based on this estimate, regardless of the number of students who attend on the day of the field trip.

  • Payments are final and non-refundable. We cannot offer partial refunds for no-shows, late arrivals, or absences, as resources are allocated and prepared in advance.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in helping us provide a high-quality, organized experience for all participating students.
