Art Classes with Ms. Portia

A woman smiling while sitting outdoors in a garden with tomato plants in the background.

Makers Space classes are led by local artist and Mendo LEAP Art Director Portia Schneider. She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts with an emphasis in Photography and a minor in Art History.  She has also been formally taught in print-making, sculpture and photography. Portia has photographed in Australia, Canada, Egypt, France, Italy, Jamaica, Mexico, Panama, South Africa, Spain, and various locations in The United States of America.

Portia’s classes offer participants the opportunity to develop fine and gross motor skills, social skills, decision-making, risk-taking and inventiveness. Each art experience will boost critical thinking and teach students to take the time to be more careful and thoughtful in how they observe the world.
