Make some arts and crafts with us in the
The Maker Space
Stocked with all of the art supplies you can imagine: jewelry-making kits, paints, pastels, perler beads, markers, crayons, colored pencils, stamps, stickers, and curated crafts you and your little one can do together. The Maker Space is every crafty kid’s dream come true!
The Maker Space is a $8 add-on to regular admission, or if you JUST want to craft, you can get a Maker Space pass for $15
These images show the Maker Space in our first facility in downtown Ukiah. We were meant to have an extra room in the back of that small 2k sq ft building for the Maker Space but that didnt work out so we made due with the Maker Space in the front corner of our facility.
The cabinets were on rollers so we could move them out of the way when we had a party. It was so fun and so much work. We are so thankful for the fun memories in that facility.
In Spring of 2025 we were able to move locations to a 5k sqft facility on the south end of town and give our Maker Space its own large room!

Adaptive Art Skills Development
Private, 1:1, & Group Lessons
Whether you're just beginning or looking to deepen your practice, we’re here to help.
Private and group art classes are now available at Mendo LEAP! Regardless of your age and ability, Portia can put together an art class that will help you grow and develop as an artist.
The program emphasizes:
Goal-setting that is individualized for each participant and their developmental needs and desires.
Documented Progress Tracking that celebrates growth and skill development
Scaffolding, where each session advances on the last to promote improvement and confidence
Students build fine and gross motor skills, strengthen social and communication skills, and practice creative problem-solving in a supportive, regulated environment. Each art experience encourages students to slow down, explore, observe their world, and express themselves authentically—developing confidence and critical thinking while growing at their own pace.
Portia works in a wide variety of mediums, including:
